In 1971 Gijs van Lennep drove with Helmut Marko (Yes, the same one who believed in Max Verstappen) the #22 Porsche 917 at Le Mans.
They won this event with a record breaking 397 laps, which set a new distance record of 5,335.313 km. It was until
2010 when this record was broken by Audi.
Because of my passion for Porsche I already had the #22 from Minichamps in my collection and in 2016 Hr. van Lennep worked with RTL GP Magazine to present
a book about his livetime racing and I took the oppertunitie to let him sign the 1:43 Porsche 917 on a special BBR case because
we could pick up our book in Leusden at the Porsche dealer and could let the book signed by Hr. van Lennep himself.
